MAAN, Sept. 3 - Evening

Okay, the very last show. You’ve probably heard all this from other sources already, oh well. Let’s do this then…

MAAN, Sept 3 - Matinee

As I said briefly before, they did a muck up matinee. Most definitely was not expecting that but I loved it. You could definitely tell who had seen the show before (and who knew it well enough to notice the differences) because we would be sitting there laughing while everyone else was just wondering why. XD

So David’s understudy went on tonight

His doctor told him an hour or two before the show that he’s not to speak at all for 24 hours, so we’re unsure about what will happen tomorrow.

…we have box 8 for tomorrow night so we’ll see what happens.

We would have killed to see the show tonight. Love seeing the understudies and would’ve loved to see what Alex did with the role.  (and yes, I would also love to see Kate as Beatrice. I’ve said that since the beginning so it’s not that I don’t care about whether David is there or not)

I watched the monitor for the first scene until Catherine left though, and he seemed to be doing a good job. Very different rhythm, obviously, but they seemed to bounce the lines off each other well.

Took the opportunity to get signatures from the rest of the cast and have a chat with them. They definitely seemed more at ease than when there’s a barrier full of people.
But Alex came out once and we smiled at him and he actually came over to speak to us, so we reckon he was just glad to see friendly faces. Plus we told him that we would’ve loved to be in there to see him.

Anna was also quite funny, saying that her shoes get progressively more painful throughout the show. I’ve always found her a bit intimidating but she was really lovely. Apparently she can barely walk in her funeral shoes. XD

And can I just say, Leo as Borachio looked amazing. XD

MAAN, August 26

Tiny report because I can’t be arsed and there’s not a lot to talk about anyway.

  • Catherine screwed up her first line. Good start love. XD She started to say “I pray you, how many…” before catching herself and saying the right line: “I pray you, has Signor Mountanto returned from the war”
  • She - and the rest of the cast - seemed to have been eating a lot of chocolate. They all seemed a bit sugared up.
  • From Box 7, when Catherine is up the wire she was basically in a direct line with us. Which was fun. X3 She kept going upside down and looking at us. I was hoping she would do it one more time, cause I was going to wave at her. XD
  • Usually during the interrogation, when shining the light on Borachio, it’s aimed between the boxes. This is the second time I’ve been sitting in a box on that side and it ended up directly in my eyes. ¬_¬ We were slightly blinded. But I was in different boxes each time it happened and I have trouble believing it was a coincidence. :P I stuck my tongue out and Enzo ended up staring at me. XD
  • Speaking of which, Elliot found me again. We had a staring contest but I couldn’t keep a straight face and ended up smiling/laughing. >.>
  • Catherine was making a lot of noise during Who is Hero and was very loud with her “Come on!” She was also singing along and it was good fun.
  • During Sigh No More, instead of her usual arm movement during the second verse, she played air drums. It was kind of amazing. XD
  • David made a face at Catherine’s cleavage when she was wearing the blue dress.
  • After getting the hook off (which took forever, during which she said “I can’t do it” or something), the audience was laughing (I think we started clapping for her first) and she was telling us there’s no time and eventually just waved her hand over her face, telling us all (and herself) to make a straight face. XD

….and that’s all I can think of. >.>

MAAN, August 19 - Mini Report

  • Not a lot really different happening. Though Catherine was playing with her line delivery a lot again.
  • When Claudio pulls out the paper on which Benedick had written his sonnet for Beatrice, David runs at him trying to grab the paper. Tonight he flung himself onto Tom so much so that the two of them lost their balance and had to take a few steps back to avoid falling over.
  • David also kept playing the wrong note on the keyboard. XD
  • Catherine seemed to be hesitating a bit over some of her lines.
  • We had a staring contest. She won. I couldn’t help but look away after a bit. >.>
  • She is also still yawning a lot during that scene. Someone please make this woman sleep.
  • Kate was back after being away since Monday.
  • David was wearing a vampire t-shirt at stage door. I lol’d.
  • Catherine was wearing that damned maxi dress again.
  • Except I’m posting this after the photos so you know that already. Oops.
  • A girl was pretty far away but somehow got Catherine’s attention except I think she thought it was me calling her at first cause she looked for a few seconds (during which I grinned like an idiot and had to resist making a heart with my hands because this isn’t Japan and people don’t do that XD) before turning towards the girl. I think she must’ve said something about her (the girl’s ginger hair) and Catherine smiled and kind of like… ruffled her own hair - for lack of better description - and it was adorable.
  • Oh. And if you’re going to try and record the show, don’t do it from row B where everyone and the cast can see you. And after pissing off the entire left side of the theatre by coming in late. And at least try to be subtle about it? *headdesk* And for god’s sake, don’t distract me from one of my favourite scenes. She was two seats to my left and the light from her iphone was right in the corner of my eye. =/ And then a guy sitting behind her told her off after about 20 seconds.

MAAN, August 17

I don’t know why, but I was in a really bouncy mood after the show and stage door but my friend had gone to the loo and there was no point going into Koha yet, so I went up to Steve in my ridiculously good mood and we had a chat. I told him I was off to see a show at the National tomorrow and wouldn’t be there and then all day Saturday as well and he said something along the lines of “after all these months and this is how you repay us?!” and something about “as long as I don’t realise that there are so many other shows to see” and I don’t know but I really do love this man. XD And then I got a hug and all was good. X3

Also, Yami meeting Steve was adorable. X3

Anyway, the show:

MAAN, August 13 Matinee

Compared to last night, today’s was definitely flatter. It’s just the nature of matinees, I think. They’ve never been quite as good as the evening shows. Not to say it was bad ! It was amazing, of course! Just pretty standard. So not a lot to talk about.

But yes, stuff under the cut:

MAAN, August 12

Show was amazing, but other than Catherine having fun with her lines in the first act (no seriously, I think her delivery of every line in scene 1 was my favourite of what I’ve seen) there’s not really a lot to talk about. :P

The “If I were a man” scene though. I just can’t. This woman. How can I ever begin to describe that scene and the complete perfection of her doing it?

…except she kept yawning (again) throughout the time Hero was being shamed. Even more so than Wednesday. Somebody make this woman sleep, I dread to know what she’ll be like tomorrow!

And then at the end, when David says “Therefore play music!” He was flailing and bouncing a lot when he said it. And he actually ended up either running into Catherine or just hitting her. But when she went back to Sarah and Tom, she said something about him hitting her and gestured towards her arm… that’s about the extent of my lip-reading skills. XP

Sharing a box with a stranger wasn’t actually as awkward as I was expecting, so that was good. XD

Looked up for quite a while during curtain call… pretty sure I had a ridiculous grin on my face (as usual >.>) and probably looked like an idiot. Oh well. And then I was in the same spot at sd as when she winked, and she actually did look over a few times and smiled. <3 Be still my beating heart. <3

Slightly awkward though, because I was in Pret before the show getting some food and a coffee, and made my way towards the till. Looked to my left and oh, I recognize the back of that person (and the shoes. That’s what really gave it away, as if there was any doubt). I proceed to try and look engrossed in either my mobile or my food, I don’t remember which, while she walks by about 3 feet away from me. >.> She was with someone though, so I don’t think she saw me… I hope. >.> Because then after sd, I went to say good night to my friends and… she and Steve walked right by us. I kind of felt like sinking into the earth because… yeah. Well. Anyway. She looked beautiful today. <3

Oh oh oh, what was it. David did something… Oh! After he says “If I do not love her, I’m a fool,” the audience will occasionally “awww” and then laugh at themselves. Tonight they did that, and then kept laughing. And he was already red faced from earlier in the scene, and he just stood there posing a bit and making these faces and it was hilarious.

And he’s really taken to slapping Tom hard. o_0 I don’t know what went on between the two, but ow! XD

It also amuses me that Verges used to start counting at 97 when Dogberry is doing his pushups. He now starts at 95, occasionally adding in a 99.5. XD Tonight as well, a chunk of the baguette went dangerously close to going off stage (as did Catherine’s sunglasses at one point) and Dogberry grabbed it and used it to gesture with. I don’t know, but for some reason I was way too amused by that.

Also Elliot scares me a bit. The past… however many shows. He finds me every time and proceeds to stare at me. o_o

…I think that’s it, unless I remember anything else… >.>

Much Ado About Nothing, August 10 report

Okay. Salmon and cream cheese bagel and a coke. I’m ready to do this thing. I also have some wine down me, so this may be a bit wordy. Photos coming after this.

So you guys pretty much know at this point that my reports consist of mistakes. At this point, after going in 17 times, there’s really nothing else I can say, because it always boils down to, “Catherine was amazing and gave me chills and made my stomach all wibbly” and “David was fantastic as always what more can I say about him” and “I cannot get over the rest of the cast omg Tom *_*.”

Unfortunately (…fortunately? Personally I like mistakes), this has not been a good week for them thus far. There was the power surge on Monday, the fainting woman on Tuesday, and today was just… I don’t even know. Again. This seems to be happening a lot. XD

I was standing for the first act, but because there were two seats in the third row (C11 or thereabouts) and I had friends sitting around there, I moved down there for the second act. Which was lovely. *g* Third row seats for half the show for 16 quid. I won’t protest. 8D

Where I was standing, there was a light pretty much directly over me. Add that to the fact that it rarely ever gets very dark in there, and I’m fairly positive Catherine spotted me. There were several times during the first act that we were just having a staring contest, because she kept looking at me and I was forcing myself not to look away for once. It was fun. *g*

Also, at David’s line after overhearing how Beatrice is in love with Benedick, “They say the lady is fair,” he paused after “They say” and I swear to god he glanced over at me like, “Yeah, I know you think she’s fair.” I realise it was likely a coincidence, but I like to think it wasn’t. *g*

In the second act, during the wedding/shaming of Hero, Catherine doesn’t do a lot other than just standing there crying and looking amazing in her blue dress. Except tonight she was apparently quite tired, and yawned three times. She tried to cover them, of course, but considering I was only really watching her… I noticed. *g* At the third yawn, I was trying not to smile (serious scene and all, that’s not really appropriate) but… yeah, she saw me. And proceeded to glare… stare… give me a bad time… I don’t know how to describe it… for the next minute of her not really doing anything.

I’m not making this up or imagining it. She actually did. She was standing there holding Sarah (Hero) and just not looking away from me and giving me a look like “how dare you notice/smile at that!” Or something. I actually had to look away twice throughout that because it was kind of scary actually. XD …and made me feel all wibbly. >.> And then suddenly she had to say something and the tears were back on and it was like nothing happened. @_@

This woman. I can’t.

Oh, which reminds me as well that when she first sat down, she was looking sideways towards the audience through her fringe and we made eye contact. X3

And Adam was back today. Would have liked to see how Clive and the others had improved since I saw them on their first night, but I love him, so. Okay. So the mistakes, under the cut:

MAAN, August 5 - In which I have no idea what was even going on XD

My internet was down when I got home last night, so this is late. It was killing me not being able to post  after how the show went down. =/ Doing this quickly in Starbucks before running around the corner because the barrier is already almost full.

Ohhh the show was amazing last night. XD

So we got to the theatre and noticed a sign saying “the roles of… will be played by…” Minor freak out before realising that it was Don Pedro, the Friar, and one of the Prince’s Watch. So.

Oh that photo reminds me (not that you lot care, you’re too distracted now)

But last night there was a front, centre seat that was empty through the first scenes of the show. Normally late-comers are brought in when everyone is dancing in that disco scene, but for some reason she came in during the scene change and was just sitting down when Catherine took her place in her chair. She saw the woman (hard to miss, front row and all) and glared at her. o_0

Moral of the story: don’t piss Catherine off and sneak in when you’re not supposed to.

MAAN report-ish, August 1

  • Number of times Catherine stuck her hand down the front of her dress: 4
  • Number of times she looked at us: lost track
    • She was on the wire and her top came undone and her bra was hanging out and before screeching and covering herself she looked straight at us like “Oi! Don’t look at them!” XD
  • Number of presents given to her by my friend and I: none, because people are idiots and don’t understand that they will go inside if the pushing gets really bad and David made her go inside. Ugh.
  • Number of times I’ve gone in now: 15. >.>

Random little bits:

Still hyperventilating over what happened. But yes. Okay. The actual show.

Do I need to say it was amazing? It always is.
